Shug's Daddy by Siobhan Smile - Blog Tour with Excerpt

Title: Shug’s Daddy

Author: Siobhan Smile

Word Count: 45k (Print Length: 168 pages)

Genre: MM Contemporary, Daddy Kink Romance

Blurb

Grey

I was just a divorced, small town, hardware store owner, and the man most people considered a gentleman. A slip up in my strict routine would send the town gossips into a frenzy. Yet I'd grown up in that town and everyone knew everyone. No secrets were safe, but I carried one that would send my world into chaos if I let it. I was falling for a town transplant and one of my best friends, Sugar. He was everything I wasn't. Spontaneous, fun, and knew exactly who he was. What would he see in a boring man like me?

Sugar (Shug)

I was that fat, nonbinary person who hadn't known the inside of a closet in my life. With a mom like mine, she taught me to never live with regrets, but I had a massive one. I fell in love with my straight, gentlemanly best friend. Grey was everything I wasn't. Thankfully, he was clueless, but our shared friend group wasn't. How long could our friends stay silent in a town as small as ours?

"Good morning, Grey." His glossy lips tugged into a smile. His five o'clock shadow was more for fashion than not shaving in the morning.

"Morning. How can I help you?" I'd tentatively called us friends; we shared the random lunch a few times a week and met up on the rare outing friends forced me to attend.

"My house was an icebox when I got up. My nipples could cut glass and not for any fun reasons." He batted his long, thick lashes at me, and for the hundredth time, I wondered if they were fake.

I shook my head, and he winked at me. "Give me your key."

He immediately shook his head. "You don't have to do it yourself. I'm sure you have better things to do."

"Shug, give me your key. I might not get to check at lunch, but I'll be by after I get off. I pass by your place on my way home. You work until six, right?" He owned a plus-sized boutique on Main Street and did a good online business. I loved listening to him talk about his shop. He became animated when he talked; he’d lean in with such a bright smile you couldn’t help but return it.

"Yes, sir. I close at six, but normally don't finish paperwork and online orders until sometimes seven," he said as he worked a key off the ring.

"If you're not home by the time I'm finished, I'll wait." I picked up the key he laid on the counter, removed my keyring, and slipped it on beside mine so I wouldn't lose it.

"You don't have to do that, just leave—"

"Shug, I'll wait." While our small town was progressive in most ways, there were still bigots around, I wouldn't leave his key for anyone with the initiative to look to pick it up.

"Okay, thank you. I'm going to have breakfast at the diner. Would you like me to bring you something?"

"No, thank you. I had breakfast before I left home."

"Of course, you did. You probably even pack your lunch and cook dinner every night."

"Yes, I do." Did he think I was boring like everyone else? I didn't drink or rarely went to the local bars. I preferred being home. Taking a ride on one of my horses around my property before I settled in for the night with a movie or a book. I wasn't exciting, but my life was calm and the way I wanted it.

"So nice and responsible, all adult."

"Nothing wrong with that." Without thinking, I defended my life choices. I knew people thought I was too stoic and reserved. I'd married my high school sweetheart after college, and we'd spent ten years together before she found my life too simple and routine. She'd left for excitement. I'd been a confirmed and abstinent bachelor since then, even though ladies in town tried to flirt, but it always made me feel awkward.

"No, sir, there isn't. Could I make you dinner for helping me?"

"That's unnecessary. If I can't fix it myself, you'll have to pay someone. I'll build fires for you so you stay warm."

"It was one time, Grey, one." He held up his index finger with a long, manicured painted nail. Today was dark purple with some flower design.

My lips twitched as I remembered the gossip of Shug trying to build his first fire when he moved to town and smoked up his entire house when he hadn’t opened the flue. The fire department had found him on his lawn in a pink robe having a meltdown that he'd burned down his house.

"It wasn't funny. Hot firefighters and I wasn't looking my best, I was a mess, honey, a mess."

"I heard you made quite the first impression."

"You're an evil man, and I no longer like you."

He spun and stomped from the store. I kept it together until the door slammed behind him, and he glared at me through the age-etched glass. I lifted my mug to my mouth to cover my smile as he walked away adorably huffy.

Blurb

Opposites attract when Keir is once jilted, twice shy...

Keir Brodie is a lawyer with good reason for his trust issues. A year after his groom didn’t show up at their wedding, he’s still heartsore and hurting. Work has been his saviour, but a new project sets alarm bells ringing — his favourite client wants to buy a house for someone Keir thinks is a liar.

Mitch’s nice-guy act doesn’t fool Keir, and he can’t let sparks flying when they’re together distract him. That’s just the flare of opposites attracting, not the lifelong connection he misses. Besides, no amount of passion is worth risking his heart, especially with someone only down for onetime hook-ups.

Their shared project chips away at Keir’s first impressions. As the truth, and Keir, unravel, Mitch pieces him back together in ways Keir couldn’t have predicted. Trusting Mitch with more than his client’s money will take a leap of faith, in himself, and in a man Keir hopes won’t leave him waiting.

Featuring opposites who attract, and passion in close proximity, His Haven is the third shared-world novel in the His Contemporary MM Romance series. Featuring a different couple each time, these books can be read alone, or enjoyed together.

The Quiet House by Lily Morton

TheQuietHouse-f900-web

Blank and Blue, Book 2

Levi Black has mostly recovered from the events of a year ago. The only lingering effects are that he’s much more well known in York than he’d like to be, and he’s a lot more cautious about walking around his house naked. However, those events brought him the capricious and fascinating Blue, so he’s not complaining. On the contrary, he’s happy, in love, and looking forward to Blue finally moving in with him. And if sometimes he wonders what Blue sees in a boring cartoonist, he keeps that to himself.

Blue Billings is finally ready to throw off the memories of his past and move in with the person who means the most in the world to him. His psychic abilities have grown in the last year to his mentor Tom's consternation, but Blue is determined to look on the bright side. He’s also focused on ignoring all the warning signs that he’s received lately.

However, even deeply buried secrets have a way of rising to the surface. And when a surprise from Blue’s past turns up and draws them away to a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors, Levi and Blue must fight for their survival once again.

From bestselling author, Lily Morton, comes the second book in the Black and Blue series. The books should be read in order.

Excerpt:

It’s ten in the morning before I remember the old man from last night. I’m unpacking a new box of books, sitting cross-legged on the floor in the book shop surrounded by stacks of books and bubble wrap, while Tom sits at the counter clutching his ever-present cup of tea with his face screwed up into grumpy lines.

“I’m just saying that you’re opening yourself up too much, Blue.”

“That’s never been a complaint before,” I say lightly, grinning up at him as he rolls his eyes.

“Lovely as this glimpse is into your private affairs, I must move you on.”

“Private affairs? I’m not Prince Charles.”

“And that’s a shame. That lad talks to plants. You struggle with humans.”

I shake my head. “I’m pretty sure that comment wasn’t meant for me. Know yourself.”

“I’m very good with humans.”

“What about yesterday?” I say, putting down my scissors and staring at him. “I’m pretty sure it was you who told the lady asking if we took cash that you weren’t the Bank of England.”

“You’ve been dreaming again.”

I roll my eyes. “If I’m dreaming about you, I definitely need to get some professional help.”

He huffs and helps himself to another biscuit from the Incredible Disappearing Biscuit Tin. I don’t know where the fuck he hides that thing. One minute he’s chomping down on a Hob Nob, then I come to take a biscuit, and it’s gone. Vanished.

I eye him affectionately. This crotchety old man is one of the most important people in my life. I’ve known him since I was a scrawny, scared kid who hitchhiked my way to York and never left, pinned here by a sense that I’d found my place. Tom never asked questions, just fed me and then later on when he revealed himself to be psychic too, he became my mentor. Sort of like Alec Guinness as Ben Kenobi, but with very poor people skills. Tom and my best friend, Will, are only topped by Levi. No one will ever shift Levi from heading the list of my most favourite people in the world.

Dominic “Bull” Walker is used to the simpler things in life. Give him his own land to work, a strong horse, and twelve hours of daylight, and he is a contented man. But when someone threatens to take away the successful ranch that took him two years to rebuild, he’ll accept any help he can get to defend it.

Mandel “Fox” Tucker is a sixth-generation SWAT soldier. It’s embedded in his bones to protect and serve his community. So when he gets word of the vandalism occurring on the Walker Ranch, he quickly volunteers the free time he has, thanks to his recent suspension.

The brief visit Fox had with Bull four months ago had been a contentious—but powerful—encounter. Therefore, he’s not surprised when he shows up on his doorstep unannounced and has to pull out some of his best tricks to get past the six-foot-four, stubborn Texan.

Fox is only there to safeguard what’s most important to Bull. But being on the ranch brings an awareness to him that he embraces with both hands. Nature, peace… love—things he never found in the city.

Fox laughed, and Bull found he liked that sound, a lot. It was one he could get used to hearing. “I know they make ’em tough in Texas and all, but you telling me you could haul hay when you were three-feet-tall?”

“Maybe I’m exaggerating a little. But not much.”Bull’s face felt strange as his mouth tilted into a smile with Fox watching him.

They were quiet for a moment, and Bull glanced around to see most of his staff’s attention was split between doing their jobs and being nosy asses. He and Fox were standing close, but they were having a private conversation, so that was warranted. Fox wanted to keep a low profile on the ranch until he had some conclusions, which meant Bull needed to make sure he stood extremely close to Fox so they could speak without being overheard. That was all Bull was doing—talking, nothing more.

He wasn’t smelling Fox’s leather coat that blended so damn good with his spicy cologne. He wasn’t going to run his fingers through the sexy silver-and-black hair that looked softer and shinier than an Akhal-Teke’s mane. Fox stood several inches shorter than him, but the lieutenant had charm and confidence that made him appear ten feet tall. And it drove Bull fucking crazy.

The Right One by Felice Stevens - Release Blitz with Excerpt

Title: The Right One
Author: Felice Stevens
Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 14, 2021
Cover Design: Reese Dante

"Wrong never felt so right."

Morgan Cantrell is a survivor. After running away from an abusive husband, he’s finally divorced and starting over, but it’s hard. Of course he doesn’t mean to set off the smoke detectors in the building or short out the electricity in his apartment. Mistakes happen. The last thing he wants is to draw the attention of his growly, moody-ass super. Every time they meet, it’s like oil and water—they just don’t mix.

Leo DeLuca learned at an early age that the people who are supposed to love you only hurt you. He’s happy to keep to himself, but the walking disaster of a new tenant in 5C won’t stop getting in his way and into his business. They can’t even speak to each other without arguing, but Leo has to admit—it’s kind of a turn on. That must be the reason why he can’t stop thinking about the guy in 5C. Or wanting to touch him. But hell, no. That would be a mistake.

One kiss leads to an explosive night both men fight to forget—after all, Leo has nothing in common with the sweet kindergarten teacher while Morgan is looking for a happily ever after he knows Leo can’t give. Yet it’s Morgan who Leo leans on to help deal with his painful past, and Leo is the key to unlocking Morgan’s inner strength.

Trusting someone is never easy, but it might be the only way they discover that everything they think is wrong about each other, could be everything that's right.

‘Yet again Felice has given is a story full of love, emotion, heartache and so much more.’ ~ booklover (Goodreads review)
‘The feelings and emotions just poured off the pages and I felt everything!! Explosive chemistry!! Seriously loved every moment about this story!!’ ~ Janet (Goodreads review)

Leo had recognized the shadows in Cantrell’s eyes. He saw that pain and loss in the mirror every day, and every day he ignored it. If Leo were to hazard a guess, it must have something to do with his failed marriage. No one went from luxury to low-cost without a damn good reason.

“Well, Mr. Nosy Ass, you still have to eat.” He gathered up the items, put them in a bag, and left his apartment.

Trudging up to the fifth floor, he figured Cantrell would’ve had enough time to cool off and they could calmly discuss the reasons why he should leave the management of the building to the people who knew what they were doing.

He knocked on the door, and he waited impatiently as Cantrell unbolted the three separate locks he’d had installed. After all that, Cantrell still only opened the door as far as the security chain would allow, but even in those few inches, Leo could see the consternation filling Cantrell’s wide green eyes.

“What do you want? Did you come here to keep yelling at me? I already said I was sorry.”

“Actually, you didn’t.”

“I’m pretty sure I did. And even if I didn’t, you had no right to call me names.”

Cantrell’s stubbornness began to grate on Leo’s nerves. That was why he didn’t waste time with people. Inevitably, they pissed him off, like this guy.

“I call them as I see them. And are you going to stand there and say to my face you were right in fumbling around with the electrical system of this entire building that I’m responsible for?”

“If you came to berate me, I’m going to close the door. I have better things to do than listen to you.” True to his snooty words, he started to close the door, but Leo quickly stuck his foot in the narrow opening.

“I thought we could have an intelligent discussion, but obviously, that’s not happening. So here.” He held up the grocery bag. “I got the stuff you left behind when you ran away from me in the supermarket. I knocked on your door yesterday, but when no one answered, I didn’t want to leave it and have the meat spoil. You’re welcome.”

Without waiting for Cantrell’s reply, he set the grocery bag on the floor and turned on his heel. At the top of the stairs he heard a door slam shut, then open, and Cantrell call out.

“Wait. Please?”

Leo closed his eyes. He really should walk away and leave that mouthy little fucker alone. “What is it?”

“Th-that was nice of you. You didn’t have to do it.”

“I know.” Leo crossed his arms and waited.

“Thank you. And…” Cantrell bit his lip. “I’m sorry. I-I guess I shouldn’t have tried to fix the problem myself. You’re right.”

The guy was pretty damn cute.

Oh hell no. Don’t even go there.

Can they fake it til Tate makes it?

Blurb

Tate Ward is in a bind. His food truck hasn’t been the runaway success he’d always dreamt it would be. When he tries to join a new food truck collective to gain a larger following, his sales aren’t even high enough to win a spot. What he needs is a high profile endorsement—and he knows just the guy.

Tate hasn’t seen Chase Riley since high school. It’s been ten long years of watching from a distance as Chase conquers football fields and fan’s hearts.

Tate never wanted Chase to know that he had the world’s stupidest crush on him, because he always believed Chase was straight.

But desperate times call for desperate measures . . .

When Chase offers a tempting plan that could fulfill all his dreams, Tate knows he can’t say no. All he has to do is pretend that his very real feelings are actually fake.

But faking it with Chase, while leading to wild success and even wilder nights, is everything that Tate feared it would be. All it’s done is leave him wanting the impossible: Chase’s heart.

Excerpt

A few minutes later, Tate re-emerged from the shiny silver truck, carrying a paper plate in one hand and a bottle of water in the other.

He headed in Chase’s direction, and without saying a word, sat down opposite him and slid the plate across the table.

“Rachel’s heating up the mac and cheese. It’ll be out in a second.”

“No soup?” Chase wondered.

“We’re out.” Tate shrugged. “Busy day. Shouldn’t have come at the end of lunch hour.”

“I had a meeting,” Chase said. One he probably could’ve canceled, but he also knew what would happen if he’d shown up when there was a crowd here. It’d have become a circus, and he wouldn’t have gotten a moment alone to talk to Tate.

The grilled cheese was perfectly browned and crispy, glistening at the edges with butter and melted cheese. It looked just as good as Chase remembered, and when he bit into it . . . bliss.

He chewed and swallowed. Wished he had about a thousand other bites. “This is even better than I remember it,” Chase said.

Tate drummed his fingers against the worn wooden grain of the tabletop impatiently. “It’s been ten years. I was a kid. I’ve refined the recipe since then.”

“I don’t suppose you’d tell me your secret ingredient,” Chase wondered.

Tell me all your secrets. Please.

“Secret ingredient? Time? Patience?” Tate seemed annoyed he was here, and maybe it was his fear of being found out but, deep down, Chase was worried it was something else. Maybe it had only been Chase who’d been so affected by their classes together twice a week. He hadn’t wanted to believe that was true, because he knew flirting and Tate had undeniably flirted with him. Had always responded, even when Chase hadn’t really known what they were doing.

Honestly, he still didn’t know what they’d been doing.

Chase finished one triangular half with three more big bites. “Well, I thought about this sandwich a lot,” he said.

I thought about you.

Tate looked incredulous. “I made you one grilled cheese sandwich, in high school, and you’ve been thinking about it ever since? For ten years?”

It sounded ridiculous when Tate put it like that. “Well, it was a good sandwich,” Chase retorted. “And so is this one.”

“Does this mean you’re not going to sue us?”

Chase groaned. “I never planned on suing you. I just wanted . . .” What had he wanted? He hadn’t let himself contemplate exactly what it was that he wanted from Tate, hadn’t given himself the chance, but now, even with Tate seemingly annoyed, that indescribable tension hummed between them.

He’d wanted to know that he hadn’t misremembered or imagined it after all. He’d wanted to know if it had been real.

“No? You just came here to intimidate me?”

“Oh for God’s sake,” Chase said. “I’m not here to sue you or intimidate you or any of that crap. Is it so hard to believe I just wanted to see you again? See how you’re doing?”

Tate stared at him. Those gray eyes—usually so warm but opaque now—had always unnerved him. Before, in the best possible ways. But now? Chase didn’t know what to think.

“You really aren’t here to demand I stop talking about you?”

Chase shrugged. “You posted that you make my favorite sandwich in LA. Technically, it was true. You did, just ten years ago. And now I’ve confirmed, officially, that you still do.”

Tate tugged off his beanie and ran his hand through his hair, the auburn strands of it shining in the mid-afternoon California sunshine. “I’m sorry, it’s just hard for me to believe that you’re not pissed.”

“I could pretend to be pissed off if it’d make you feel better,” Chase offered.

Tate chuckled. “No, no, that’s okay. I’m . . . I guess I’m just surprised. I’d have thought you’d hate people who use your name.”

“Most people, yeah,” Chase admitted, biting into the second half of his sandwich. “But you’re not most people. Never have been.”
