Spell Cat by Tara Lain - Cover Reveal with Excerpt

Spell Cat
by Tara Lain

Blurb:
When Killian Barth, history professor, meets Blaine Genneau, quantum physicist, they ignite their own big bang. But Killian can’t pursue a physics professor—or a human. As the most powerful male witch in ten generations, Killian must bolster his dying race by reproducing—despite the fact that he’s gay.

Even a fling with Blaine is out of the question, because Killian has been told sex with humans drains his power. But if that’s true, why can young human Jimmy Janx dissolve spoons with the power of his mind? If Killian can sort through the lies he’s been fed, he’ll still face his biggest obstacle — convincing rational scientist Blaine to believe in magic.

With his ancient and powerful cat familiar, Aloysius, on his shoulder, Killian brings the lightning against deceit and greed to save Blaine from danger and prove love is the greatest power of them all.

Excerpt

The man’s shaggy head cocked. “Sorry to bother you, but I’m new here. Can you tell me how to get to the physics building?”
Physics. Not my best subject. But right now he needed mechanics to keep his cock from rising. This man seemed to radiate heat even from several feet away, and it lit a fire in places Killian hardly recognized. Standing there with a rapidly rising hard-on came nowhere near cool. “Uh, I, uh, believe it’s directly across the street from here.”
The guy flashed dimples at Killian. “Damn. You’re not the first to say that. I’m not usually so bad at directions. Can you tell me which street? I’ve already been across a couple of streets.”
“The side street, Templeton.”
“Oh.” The stranger produced a wide smile. “Wouldn’t you know I’d choose every street but that one?” He paused as if he was searching for a new topic. “Quite a group I saw leaving here. What’s your subject?”
“Witchcraft.”
The laugh burst out explosively. “You’re joking?”
Gorgeous, but rude. “Not even slightly. I teach the history of witchcraft, among other things.”
“Sorry. Guess that was impolite.”
“Yes, I guess it was.”
The guy cocked his head and peered at Killian over the tops of the black rims. There was a lot of mischief in that handsome face. “Since I’m on a roll with being insulting, I think I’ll go all the way. I hope you won’t think I’m a stalker, but I stood here and watched while your class filed out. You’re about the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen. Is there the slightest chance you’re single—and gay?” He ducked and held up his hands as if to deflect a blow, but he never stopped smiling.
Killian arched an eyebrow. A lot of people assumed he was gay because of his long hair and pretty face, but he never confirmed or denied. “Who wants to know?”
The paragon thrust out a slim hand. “Blaine Genneau. New professor of quantum physics.” He grinned wickedly. “Gay professor of quantum physics.”
Killian took that hand and got a flash of heat straight to his balls. Like lightning streaked through the window into his jeans. Extraordinary. He pulled his hand back. Maybe the lightning loosened his tongue. “Killian Barth, professor of history. Gay professor of history.”
He gazed into those eyes. Deep green like ancient Chinese jade. A carved mouth. Just the type he imagined wrapped around his cock in his daydreams. But with one big difference. Killian sighed so deeply, it felt like his heart cracked. Yes, this man was gorgeous. Yes, Killian was gay. In truth, he was dying for a real relationship with a partner who both attracted him and fulfilled him, and if he’d ever been allowed to discover the type of partner he wanted, he knew Blaine Genneau would have fit every parameter—every parameter but one.

He tucked the helmet under his arm. “Good to meet you, Blaine.” He walked past the man and out into the sunshine toward his motorcycle. He couldn’t stay. He couldn’t find out what he’d been missing. Because no matter how perfect this man might be, Killian Barth didn’t do physics professors. In fact, he didn’t do humans. Sex with humans stole his energy and depleted his community, and that wasn’t allowed, because he was the most powerful male witch in ten generations, and he was expected to reproduce.

Excerpt:
Smoke, by Zev de Valera
He rubbed his temples and squinted at the soft light of his surroundings through the fans of his thick eyelashes. The last drink had been a mistake.
Was that a shaker he'd felt, or the onset of a hangover?
He clutched a silken pillow and waited.
Suddenly, he felt his home tremble; a few pieces of glass
and ceramic ware teetered and then fell to their demise.
Shit. This is the real thing.
With an effort, he hauled himself from his bed.
How many years had it been since the last one?
Sixty? Seventy?
The shaking ceased, and he looked around his small dwelling.A model unit when he'd purchased it. Now filled with the result of years of collecting: a gramophone, a first generation television set, a water clock. And much more. All of it all had sentimental value—as did the photos of the various men that sat atop or alongside the items in his collection. Some of these men had loved him. All of them had once owned him. Now he owned their memories. That was the bargain.
Another shake. Followed by several unnerving tilts. He willed his cherished possessions to remain in place and willed himself into sobriety and a more becoming appearance as he prepared himself for work.
What to wear?
He selected a red brocade tunic and pants. A classic look always worked best for the initial consultation.
A resounding thud.
He peered up into the small shaftway at the center of the ceiling.
A pop.
Then a small circle of light at the end of the shaft.
He sighed, folded his arms, and transformed into a cloud of red smoke.
Up and away to meet his new master.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the next installment in the Saints of Denver series.

Everyone else in Dixie Carmichael’s life has made falling in love look easy, and now she is ready for her own chance at some of that happily ever after. Which means she’s done pining for the moody, silent former soldier who works with her at the bar that’s become her home away from home. Nope. No more chasing the hot as heck thundercloud of a man and no more waiting for Mr. Right to find her; she’s going hunting for him...even if she knows her heart is stuck on its stupid infatuation with Dash Churchill.

Denver has always been just a pit stop for Church on his way back to rural Mississippi. It was supposed to be simple, uneventful, but nothing could have prepared him for the bubbly, bouncy redhead with doe eyes and endless curves. Now he knows it’s time to get out of Denver, fast. For a man used to living in the shadows, the idea of spending his days in the sun is nothing short of terrifying.

When Dixie and Church find themselves caught up in a homecoming overshadowed with lies and danger, Dixie realizes that while falling in love is easy, loving takes a whole lot more work…especially when Mr. Right thinks he’s all wrong for you.

Excerpt:

I swallow against the dryness in my throat. “We need to talk.”
No response.
Slowly, as though wading through deep sand, I cross the room until I’m standing right behind him. He grips the edge of the worktop.
“Theo?”
Still nothing. Only the convulsive tightening of his fingers shows he even heard me.
“Theo,” my voice cracks, “don’t do this.”
Theo sucks in a breath. When he replies, his tone is even. “Do what?”
“This. Shutting me out.”
“I’m—”
“And don’t say you’re not, because we both know that isn’t true.” I’m aware of my voice rising, and lower it with an effort. “Just…don’t.”
Theo exhales in a long sigh. He turns to me, his expression distant but not unkind. I wish he’d glare at me, shout, whatever. Anything to show he gives a damn.
“Luke, I’m sorry about this morning. It was a mistake. If you got the wrong impression—”
“The wrong impression? You kissed me. What impression was that supposed to give me?”
He casts a nervous glance at the window.
“What’s wrong, Theo? Worried Giles might hear? I don’t blame you. He’d probably make you bathe in disinfectant for a year if he knew you’d kissed scum like me.” Theo starts to protest, but I shake my head. “You know what? Forget it. So sorry I embarrassed you.”
I need to get out of here. Humiliation, hot and clammy, coils like tar through my veins. Still, what did I expect? Theo’s made it perfectly clear how he sees me, that he thinks I’m beneath him. I grab for the nearest glass, intending to pour myself a liver full of whatever’s in that jug, but my hand shakes so much it slips through my fingers. Glass collides with oak in a minor explosion, glittering fragments flying.
“Shit.” I drop to my knees, begin picking up the larger pieces. I fumble, a jagged shard slicing my palm. “Shit.”
“Luke?” Theo crouches beside me.
“I’m fine.” I turn away from the phony concern in his eyes, fist clenched around the cut to hide it from view. Blood trickles through my fingers and onto my jeans. The pain is almost a relief.
“Let me see.” Theo holds out his hand, but I jerk away.
“I said I’m fine.”
He ignores me. With gentle firmness, he takes hold of my wrist, uncurling my fingers to examine the wound. My body stills. I scarcely breathe. Every nerve ending, every particle of my being is aware of him, the pressure of his fingers on my wrist, his warm palm supporting the back of my hand.

Fade To Blue by DP Denman - Cover Reveal with Excerpt and Giveaway

Title: Fade to Blue
Series: Blue Series #3
Author: DP Denman
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: October 27, 2016

Brady Halverson is a self-made man with his life under control. He has the money. He has the man. He has it all. When an international scandal pits brother against brother, he realizes how quickly he could lose it.

While Brady is learning the truth behind his brother’s lies, his boyfriend Blue is learning another lesson about loyalty and the fragile bonds of friendship. A careless moment divides Blue’s circle of friends, threatening to tear it apart.

Putting things back together forces them to test the bonds of friendship and family. For one of them, things will never be the same.

Brady walked barefoot down the hall of his condo, tan carpet cushioning his steps, his mind on the golf course. He looked forward to Wednesdays at the country club, working on his game and chatting with fellow golfers. They celebrated their morning on the green with cognac at the clubhouse, bragging about better days and better scores.

He strode past the office he'd learned to ignore, the career that used to define him downgraded to a lucrative hobby. The trill of the phone on his desk lured him to the open door. It didn't make that sound often anymore. He stepped into the sunlit room, a muted version of summer pouring through the full-length tinted windows. He paused within reach of the receiver, tempted to let the call go to voice mail. It wasn't an emergency. It couldn't be.

There were no emergencies in investing. Only a slow-rising panic that took days to peak and gave people ulcers in the process. That phone produced headaches. His cell dealt with calamity, and it hadn't made a sound.

A glance at the caller ID challenged his certainty, scattering the casual curiosity and denting his mood.

Why were the Royal Canadian Mounted Police phoning his office?

A spike of fear drilled into his gut at the thought that his boyfriend, Blue, had tripped over something and done a face plant into trouble. It wouldn’t be the first time, though Blue's brand of trouble didn't warrant the RCMP’s attention. At worst, it attracted the Vancouver police and a couple of paramedics.

He picked up on the third ring, pushing aside the explanation. If they were calling about Blue, they wouldn't be on his landline.

"This is Sergeant George with IMET," a man said in his ear. "I'm trying to reach Brady Halverson."

"This is Brady. You're with what?"

"The Integrated Market Enforcement Team. Do you have a moment to answer some questions?"

He wasn't familiar with that division, but the name was enough to launch dread down a zip line through his intestines.

"Sure." He stood behind his desk, cringing at the thought of something unpleasant crashing into his life.

"You work as a hedge fund manager. Is that correct?"

"Not anymore. I'm a part-time investment advisor."

"And you have a brother named Terry Bernard Halverson?"

That question didn't make any sense. The topics weren't related. "Yes. What's this about?"

"Would you mind coming down to our office to discuss a few things?"

He didn't like the way the sergeant stepped around his question. Neither did his blood pressure.

"Can you tell me what this is about?" he repeated, suspicion inching toward dread and puddling under his arms.

"It regards your brother."

"I figured that." His heart pounded through scenes of kidnappings by professionals who specialized in compound interest and compound fractures. "Is he all right?"

"To my knowledge, he's fine. I'd rather ask the remaining questions in person if you don't mind. It's not urgent, but it is important."

He breathed out the tension in his stomach. "Yeah, I guess. What's the address?"

Sergeant George gave it.

"Does it need to be today?"

"No. Anytime this week will be fine."

They agreed to meet the next morning, and he hung up, questions crowding his head. The biggest was what Market Enforcement in British Columbia wanted with a concert violinist from Toronto.
