“So, are you game, or what?”
Will blinked. “Eh?”
Jack laughed. He lay back on Will’s bed and folded his arms behind
his head, all dark eyes and shaggy hair. “You’re such a dreamer. No wonder you don’t notice any blokes. I was saying we could practice kissing if you want. You know, so you’re not nervous next time the bottle lands on you.”
This time Will couldn’t stop the beer going down the wrong way. He coughed. “Next time? What are you going to do? Out me to the whole school by snogging my face off? I’d rather smooch the girls.”
“Liar.” But Jack looked sheepish all the same. “Okay, maybe we shouldn’t mess around in front of other people, but I still reckon you should try your techniques out on me. Ginny says I’m the best kisser in the whole school, and she should know.” Jack swooned and pitched into a fit of weed-fueled giggles.
Will dove at him and pushed him off the other side of the bed. “It’s not funny, arsehole. I’m the only gay in the whole bloody town. I’m going to die a virgin at this rate.”
Jack hit the floor with a thump. He lay there a moment, still laughing, then hauled himself back onto the bed. “Chill out, mate. No one said anything about bonking.”
Will tried to grin. Chill out. Yeah, right. Jack had been taking the piss since that stupid bloody bottle had put the idea of them kissing in his daft head. “You’re not funny.”
Jack sobered and stared with an expression Will couldn’t decipher. “I wasn’t joking, at least not about the kissing part. We’re friends, right? Ginny and Meg snog all the time.”
He had a point. The girls were always messing around with each other, and Will had often watched them and maligned the fact that girls had it easy... from his point of view, at least. They could do whatever they wanted and no one cared. It would be a different story if Will jumped on Jack in the middle of the park. Snogged his face off and squeezed his arse.
So why not do it here? No one will ever know.

Excerpt from The Right Words by Lane Hayes
“One day at a time,” he repeated thoughtfully, making an obvious effort to steer the topic toward something more pleasant. “Well, I don’t have anything better, so… I’ll go with that too.” Michael’s smile lit his entire face. It was a beautiful thing to witness. He was handsome always, but wow… what a smile.
“Was the picture of us good at least?”
This time he laughed out loud, a sweet, musical sound that made me chuckle along with him.
“Yeah, very hot.” He reached over and pulled me into his side effortlessly. “Look, I wasn’t trying to send mixed signals this week. I know I haven’t been around like I said I would. I… Jamie isn’t going to go away easily. This has been a weird blow to add to an already fucked-up situation, but… I like you and I do trust you.”
“You like me?”
He gave a small half chuckled and shrugged. “Un poco.” He translated when I gave him a blank stare. “A little.”
“I like you a little too.”
I couldn’t help my response at being near him. I curled into his side like a cat begging for attention. Michael wrapped his arms around me and kissed my cheek and my chin. I didn’t want a “friend” kiss, though. I wanted what he gave me Friday night. I wanted “that kiss.” I intercepted him when he leaned in to peck my temple and stuck my tongue out to trace the corner of his mouth. He groaned and accepted the invitation, diving and thrusting his tongue inside my mouth to stake his claim. His right hand traveled down my throat and came to a stop over my left nipple. He rubbed at the sensitive flesh through my tight T-shirt and squeezed hard when he heard my moan of approval.
I arched my back into his touch but kept my mouth fastened to his. I didn’t want to lose this connection. He bit at my chin and sent kisses down my neck as his hand dipped down to my belt and came to rest on my hardening cock. I whimpered and scooted on his lap to straddle his thighs.
“Is this okay? Am I hurting your knee?”
“It’s good, honey. Really good.” Both of his hands splayed flat on my back and circled to the front to pluck at the fabric of my T-shirt. “Take it off.”
I didn’t have to be told twice. I was burning up. I yanked it over my head and tossed it aside before I began working on the seemingly endless row of buttons on his dress shirt.
“Fuck. Help me get his off you. I need to feel your skin.”
I barely recognized my voice. I sounded breathless.
When Michael finally leaned forward to let the fabric slide from his shoulders, I met him halfway to feel his skin against mine. Heaven. He was simply beautiful, with finely toned washboard abs and gorgeous skin. It was smooth like mine but much darker. Olive against golden. I loved the contrast and I was anxious to explore. I let my hands roam, over his chest, down his stomach, and back again. My fingers itched to palm his cock through his worn jeans. Instead I fused my naked torso against his and ground my aching cock against his equally hard member. We both hissed, and the kiss became something more like sex.

Interview with Author Lane Hayes

Wicked Faerie's: What made you choose soccer as the sport for Michael to play?

Lane Hayes: The Right Words is set in Southern California where there is a huge Latino population and a many of whom love fÅ“tbol!  Since Michael was from LA, I thought soccer made the most sense.

Wicked Faerie's: What is your favorite m/m genre to write?

Lane Hayes: Contemporary romance.  I like it all, don't get me wrong, but I love writing contemporary romance because they strike me as pertinent and meaningful in a time where gay rights are finally gaining momentum.

Wicked Faerie's: Did any particular character in this book drive your writing or was it an overall kind of story?

Lane Hayes: Luke and Michael each drove the writing to a degree because they both had huge demons to conquer and both required equal attention.

Wicked Faerie's: Do you have any more sports themed m/m books in the works?

Lane Hayes: Not immediately, but I love sports so no doubt there will be one in the future!

Wicked Faerie's: Did you have a playlist while writing The Right Words, if so can you share a few songs on it?

Lane Hayes: Well, I never listen to music while I write but I always have a songs in mind because let's face it, we all tend to associate major life events with music.  Meeting the man you're going to spend the rest of your life with is a big deal!  A couple songs on The Right Words soundtrack would be: 'Firework' by Katie Perrry, 'Like A Prayer' by Madonna and 'Lose Yourself' by Eminem.  When you read the book, I think you'll get a good idea about where those songs should go in the move version!

Thank you for having me on your blog!

Happy Reading!

Excerpt:
The hospital room was easy enough to find once Jason let the central desk know who he was looking for. At the end of the long white hall was a bay of rooms, set in a circular pattern around the nurses’ station and Justin’s room was on the far right. Glass doors allowed Jason to see into the room and see his cousin’s smiling face talking to a doctor in a long white lab coat. The room was filled with a half dozen vases filled with colorful flowers ranging from wild flowers to orchids and even roses. Odd considering Justin only knew Jason and Eric in the city and Justin’s family hadn’t been contacted about the accident.
Justin beamed when Jason entered the room holding his own bouquet of daisies and a get well card purchased from the downstairs gift shop. Justin lay propped upright with his left leg in a cast and elevated on a stack of pillows. An IV was hooked to his arm and a few scratches covered his forearms and left cheek but other than that he looked good. The benefits of youth had been on his side when the accident occurred.

Kirk wakes up to find the two kitties are actually Dolf and Tal. They’re cat shifters—and his destined mates. Excerpt:
Dolf picked out the saw he wanted, then followed Tal to another aisle. His mate pointed out the different kinds, but Tal’s words had rapidly faded into a meaningless buzz. There, on the air currents in the store, was the sweetest scent. It was light and flowery, reminding him of honeysuckle. He breathed deeply, taking the scent into himself. His cock hardened immediately and his head spun. A yowl threatened to escape.
That scent… that scent was seductive and alluring. It spoke to him, whispering things that made him need. His cat paced frantically in his mind, tail slashing madly. The need to pounce, to sink his canines in and drink that sweet, life-giving blood of his…. His gums tingled and saliva flooded his mouth.
He swallowed, then swallowed again as his head pounded, his heart rate spiking as one thought screamed through his mind: Mate! Another mate! Where was that scent coming from? Or who? And by the goddess, why? He already had a mate. What was their goddess thinking, giving him another? But he couldn’t ignore the reaction. It had been the same when he met Tal.

Interview with author M.A. Church

Wicked Faerie's: What is your favorite genre in M/M to write? Why?

M.A. Church:  Hmm, I’d have to say it’s a toss-up between sci-fi and paranormal. For scifi, the draw is the futuristic settings, sciences, and technology. The idea of traveling in a spaceship to other worlds fascinates me. With paranormal, it’s taking established sciences and twisting them.

Then there’s the world building that goes with both. OMG, creating a brand new culture is hard work, but such a joy as it develops.

Wicked Faerie's: Do you dictate the flow of your stories or are the characters steering the direction of the story?

M.A. Church: Weeeeel, lol. You know what they say about the best laid plans lol. I start with an outline, and as I write, it grows. We’re sailing along, things are going good… then BAM!

LOL. Let the crying begin. And it’s usually me doing the crying. I can’t tell you how many times a character has ambushed me and changed the plot. *Shrug* I’ve learned to just go with it, lol.

That, and a good stiff drink, helps. ;)

Wicked Faerie's: Was there one particular character that stood out to you while writing ‘Trouble Comes in Threes’?

M.A. Church:  I think it would be Kirk. Tal is the cutie, and Dolf is the strong one. Kirk… well, he’s the underdog. He’s had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at him, and he just refuses to give up. He can be a little mouthy and snarly, but he’d give you the shirt off his back.

Wicked Faerie's: Do you use real actors/people in order to get the perfect look for your characters or stick with your own imagination?

M.A. Church:  I usually have a character in mind, and then I go searching for a picture that’s similar. I’m very visual, so I need that.  The pic may not be exactly what I had in mind, but it’s usually close. I’ve also had artwork done on characters.

I do the same for their surroundings, like their home, their business, what they drive… things like that. It’s all about building a world. The more I can see it, the more real it is to me. And the more real I can make it for the reader.

Wicked Faerie's: Is there a genre in M/M that you’d like to write in but haven’t yet? Why or why not?

M.A. Church: Probably high fantasy. There’s a history that comes with it, and I’m not familiar enough with the rules so I can break them, lol. Following the rules is fine, but I’m more about coloring outside the lines.
