Unwilling to give in to her hungers, she sets her feet upon a path of discovery, searching for clues to her forgotten past. Along the way she runs headlong into the unimaginable world of the undead and the waiting arms of Nicholas, a fearless nocturnal defender searching for his love, lost in eternity.

Into their midst stumbles Declán, a young, natural born vampire hunter and Guardian whose passion for Anya is only matched by his draw to Nicholas. His arrival could mark the end of their tale, or with the gift of Anya's blood kiss, it might bring about the beginning of a new chapter for them all.

Fate has a wicked sense of sensibility…

Excerpt

“You want me to go to a party? With you and your humans? Really?” His eyes were wide as he stared at me.

“You don’t have to go. I won’t be upset if you don’t feel comfortable....” I trailed off, silenced by his strange look.

“Anya, relax, please. I’m just surprised you’d want me to meet your humans.”

“You do not feed on humans, so why not? I mean, I know what you said, and your eyes back up your words.” I had yet to see the killer type’s eyes, but Star’s description of the blackness taking over even the white part, not merely the colored part, did nothing to make me want to seek one out. “Declán is excited at the thought of balancing out the estrogen with another male.” I couldn’t contain my smile at the memory of his face when Declán had spoken.

“That’s not what I meant. I would never endanger one of your friends! It was more the idea of you willingly introducing me, to share your humans. Aren’t you worried about what they will notice if they see me next to you?”

The strange mixture of confusion and intrigue charmed me.

“What they would see? Do you mean because our features are so similar?”

He nodded.

“We hardly adhere to the general vampire lore. Not to mention, even if they did suspect such a thing of us, we don’t have large fangs hanging out of our mouths or dress anachronistically. I even lack the ridiculous coffin that seems so common in their myths,” I explained, certain having a pale friend wouldn’t be a problem, other than possibly if one of them developed a crush on him.

“Besides, I don’t speak loud enough for them to be affected by my voice or for them to really even hear the unusual ring to it.”

“True. Well, I suppose you can count me in then. Your friend Declán, he isn’t the jealous type, I hope? I have an unfortunate habit of turning heads.” A slight sour note tainted his voice by the end.

“Well, he is dating Skye, so make sure you are thoughtful when interacting with her. His sister is Kayla. I would say be considerate of how you relate to her, as well. He’s a bit protective of them.”

“I don’t get involved with humans.”

A decidedly wary look crossed his face suddenly. “Star has warned you about getting involved with one of them, hasn’t she? Romantically, physically I mean?” he asked, suddenly on his knees, towering over me.

“Um, we haven’t discussed romance or intimacy. Star mentioned she is not like us and left it at that. Why?”

First, let me say hello to you and all your wonderful readers. (waves) 😉

Now, let me try answering this simple, yet not question. You see, as many know, I have children. Six bio, plus a step, a DIL, etc. Plus I remember how confusing, painful, and just plain hard it was to be a teen. So even though my main focus has been writing homoerotic romance, I never lost sight of also wanting there to be things my kids could read and see themselves in—ignoring the paranormal bits, lol. But I also wanted to write what I wish there had been for me to read when I was a teen. You see, I have loved to read since I was little. My mother has a few reading awards from the library programs of mine to prove it. But it was all either no romance, violent/abusive, rapey, and/or het (bodice ripper or no). The closest things I found were the likes of Interview with a Vampire and Rice’s later books in that series (very homoerotic even if there’s only ever het sex in it the one-time Lestat gets to have sex :/ so annoying!) and others that skirted the lines. But… those weren’t teen books! Not really.

And then there was the issue of my own children fussing that they weren’t allowed to read my writings. If I was “nice” I’d write something that they could read. So, fingers to keyboard, Anya, Declan, and Nicholas were born. I hadn’t intended this to be a f/m/m story, exactly, but I want to show all kinds of love, all kinds of people and pairing, so who am I to judge my characters and their choices? As the series moves forward, there will be m/m, trans m/f, and more. So you just never know how the vampires and their loves will match, but that once they love, it’s eternal.

Oh, and I have a series love of the fanged and fabulous, LOL. I blame Louie!

Description:

Turn The Page.... began as a simple idea and grew from there. No matter how bad things seem to be, just turn the page, there’s more—better—things to come. This is only one chapter in your life. It’s not the whole story. With this simple idea, Novice Sister Eroti-Quill—whom most know better as Tempeste O’Riley—began their quest to help Suicide Prevention and Awareness programs in their area. They managed to con (excuse me, convince) other authors to donate their time and stories to the project, and now, many months later, Turn The Page is born!

The authors in this anthology donated their talent as a way to support Eroti-Quill’s hope for others, to help bring strength to programs that so desperately need funding. It will allow them show those that need support but may not have it, or that may be afraid to reach out, just how much love and understanding surrounds them. Turn The Page.... is a diverse range of stories about the journey of love, hope, and acceptance.

Individual Blurbs:

Happy Birthday to Me by Tempeste O’Riley
When Dave’s best friend drags him out for his birthday—nearly kicking and screaming, he finds more than he expected at Sovereign, the BDSM club he half owned but had refused to step foot in for two years other than for administrative things while it was closed. He didn’t go to clubs. He didn’t sub anymore. Period.
Well... until he sees Master Nicky. Then his plans for his birthday change and he decides that maybe giving himself a present, might not be quite such a bad idea after all.
Robin’s Confession by Dianne Hartsock
How can Robin find true love without accepting himself first?
Purr by Nikki Prince
Sasha's love was in imminent danger. All she wanted was to keep Tori safe. Stay at the cabin wait for the verdict from the council. That’s all they had to do. One little dip in the lake couldn’t hurt could it?
Lockdown by Grace R. Duncan
Gylam’s never been that great at communication and this time he’s gone too far. His penchant for keeping his mouth shut resulted in a disastrous trip to the local dungeon. Jackson, his partner—both cop and at home—and Dom, is well familiar with Gylam’s tendencies. The punishment he gives Gylam is just shy of his limits, but Gylam knows he’s earned it. It remains to be seen if it teaches him anything, though.
Ducks in a Row by Sue Brown
David spends his afternoons feeding the ducks, a peaceful activity until the day Jeff and his Labrador dog burst into his life. David and Jeff get to know one another, punctuated by Bozo's mishaps, but David is unwilling to share all his secrets. Will Jeff give him the time he needs?
Butterflies by Aine P Massie
Kyndra visits Jaiden’s shop for a little birthday shopping but is there for more than the pretty blown glass designs she makes—lovely though they are. What she really wants is a date with the beautiful craftswoman. But can she push her fears aside and ask, or will her past get in the way? With Jaiden’s help, can who Kyndra is inside finally shine?
Once Step Back by Carole Cummings
When Sahir is busy running for his life, it never occurs to him that the being in wrong place at the wrong time might turn into the right place at the right time. Not until he literally collides with Nicholas and salvation comes by way of magical intervention. But when Nicholas ends up being the one who really needs help, Sahir has to decide the best way to give it—and how to offer it to someone who can’t even figure out if he wants it.
Superheroes by Hope Ryan
Many people reach a point where they think life can’t get any worse. Rock bottom, where the future is so bleak, they begin to ask, “why bother?”
When homeless gay man Wayne Kent reaches that point, standing on a Pittsburgh bridge on a cold Tuesday in April, the last thing he expects is to get stopped—especially by a man named Bruce Clark.
But Bruce has been there, he’s seen that, he’s thought and felt the things Wayne is now and he refuses to see the beautiful, hurting man become another statistic. Coffee and a sandwich is a first step and Bruce hopes it’ll lead to a permanent step up for Wayne. And maybe even a step toward more together.
Unworthy by Mark Zubro
A love lost over half a century ago. Is there really redemption for all of our regrets, or at least perhaps for one regret? A chance to change the decision you made over half a century ago, or at least a chance to say what was unsaid, to say what could be said now? The love you missed so long ago, and if you could have one moment again, once last chance.
Love and Hope and Magic by Antonia Aquilante
Once each century, a ritual is performed, the magic of which sustains the land and protects it and its people for the century to come. But the person who performs the ritual never survives. This time Ailill is chosen. He is honored and content with his fate, but his best friend Lorcan is not. Lorcan can’t accept the loss of Ailill and can’t see a life without the man he thinks of as his other half. But Ailill knew Lorcan perhaps better than Lorcan knows himself, and he knew a life of love and magic is waiting for Lorcan after Ailill is gone, if only Lorcan can find the courage to reach for it.
Façade by D. Zander Crane
David struggles with his gender identity as he searches his city for a woman-murdering madman in his female alter-ego, Façade. Can he overcome his depression and confusion long enough to stop the Grinning Reaper?

Carole Cummings
Carole lives with her husband and family in Pennsylvania, USA, where she spends her time trying to find time to write. She feels strongly about showing there is hope for everyone, no matter where you come from, how you identify your gender or who you love. Hope likes to play board and card games and can often be found playing God with her Sims or running around, fighting monsters in a virtual version of Middle Earth. Her TV and movie preferences lean towards anime, sci-fi and fantasy, though she’ll never turn down a good happily ever after love story, either. As long as there are explosions or action, she’s happy. She loves to read books of all kinds, though prefers stories about love in its many forms.
Mark Zubro
Mark Zubro is the author of thirty-four novels and five short stories. His book A Simple Suburban Murder won the Lambda Literary Award for Best Gay Men’s mystery. Liam Grady is the owner of the Feathered Quill, a quirky little bookstore in Asheville, and—though he doesn’t realize it yet—a dream walker. His last relationship failed almost a year ago, and he’s not had the interest or nerve to pursue anyone he’s met since.

Cameron Danu is a tattoo artist from rural Georgia. Cameron is left without a job after his boss, Jose, is forced to close the shop after a heart attack. When Cameron learns Jose has set up an interview for him at a small tattoo parlor in Asheville, he hopes for a fresh start in a new town.

Fate brings Cameron and Liam together, and they realize they’ve met before—in their dreams. A chance encounter and a winged tattoo might lead them to their destiny—if fear doesn’t turn their dreams into a nightmare.

Liam walked beside Cam, noting every nuance of the man he’d been with most of his life, even if they’d never met while awake before. He was entranced with how Cam moved. He thought of the way Cam had spoken using his hands to emphasize and punctuate his voice when they were inside the tattoo shop, and even the little sidestep to separate them didn’t surprise or bother Liam any. Liam had expected it, truthfully, but he’d needed to feel Cam, to know he wasn’t imagining all this, either—that fleeting touch in the tattoo shop hadn’t been nearly enough.

Working with Nosha the last couple of weeks had been interesting, and he’d started to believe Cam might be real. However, seeing and touching Cam was very different from trying to willfully take control of his dreams or debating Cameron’s possible existence. And touching him? Liam suppressed a shiver as he opened the door for Cam to enter the little coffee shop.

“Thanks,” Cam murmured. “You always do things like this in the dreams too,” he added so softly Liam almost missed it.

Liam smiled, hoping Cam could adjust to this new knowledge and glad he’d noticed how Liam acted both in their dreams and now.

Thankfully, it wasn’t busy right then, so they got their coffees and were seated at the farthest table from the other patrons in a few minutes. Liam waited, watching Cam as he fidgeted with his cup, steadfastly refusing to meet Liam’s eyes.

Liam cleared his throat and asked, “Will you look at me, please?”

Cam raised his head slowly before finally meeting his gaze. “I don’t understand how you’re here. You’re supposed to only exist in my head. Well, in my dreams, anyway.”

Liam chuckled, thinking of how he’d made the same argument with Di and Nosha not that long ago about his seeing Cam at the club. “I’m still not entirely certain how all this works, but I’m quite real. As are you, it seems.”

The silver eyes before him flashed a moment before Cam snorted softly, then smiled, almost. “Why don’t you seem more, I don’t know, upset? I mean, this should be just as much of a shock for you as it is for me. Or do you go around invading people’s dreams and doing all those things with others you do with me all the time?”

He blinked hard as he thought about what to say and which questions to even answer.

Description:

Simon Tyler knows his job as a gay romance author makes his lack of faith in love more than a little ironic, but he’s tired of being used for his wallet. When a night out turns into a matchmaking scheme orchestrated by his best friends—though he’s not the target—Simon’s not thrilled, but since he’s sworn off happily-ever-after anyway, he goes along with it… until he meets the object of their efforts, Adrian, and finds perhaps he hasn’t given up on love after all.

Professor Adrian Keys has tried to date hearing men before, but being deaf himself, he’s never had any success at making a connection. After his friends con him into going out and Adrian realizes it’s all an elaborate plan to set him up, he braces for yet another failure, only to discover there is a spark—except it’s not with the man his friends had in mind, but with Simon Tyler instead.

Not all their friends have found a way past their romantic failures, but Simon and Adrian might be on the path to happily-ever-after.

They all debated what to eat and chatted for a little, Adrian mostly staying quiet and watching the others. He noticed one of the other men seemed just as out of it as he was, the one Chase had called Grayson. He was handsome, tall, and powerful like Rhys, but he had long black hair, deeply tanned skin, and light brown eyes that were almost amber. He was a little thinner than Chase’s partner, though just as intimidating a presence.

The other man who caught his attention was named Simon. Adrian knew a little more about him because Chase spoke of his closest friends often, and Adrian loved meeting Chase’s friends even if the outing was nerve-racking. Simon had light brown hair, big puppy brown eyes, and a slender body. The longer Adrian looked, the more he wondered how Simon would look when dressed in something a little less bulky.

A tap to his shoulder pulled Adrian out of his musings. He turned and realized the server was back with their dinners and blushed at how entranced he’d been. He didn’t usually stare, hating when others did that to him. “Sorry.”

“No sorrys.” Chase hugged Adrian, then dug into his bowl of chicken and dumplings.

Simon waved to get Adrian’s attention and smiled when he looked up from his country-fried steak and mashed potatoes with white gravy. “Chase said you were his teacher before and are now a friend.” Adrian nodded. “How’d he convince you to go out with his skinny butt?”
Heat infused Adrian’s face as he laughed. “Chase was very sweet and asked nicely.”

“I love your laugh, by the way. It’s deep like your voice, kind of carefree.” Simon looked slightly sad. Adrian knew he’d had a hard time lately. Chase said he’d been cheated on a year ago and had refused to date since. Adrian knew the feeling, though he pushed the thought away, hoping not to dwell on why he was alone.

He ducked his head slightly. “Thanks? I don’t know how anyone sounds, even myself, so it’s always weird to get comments like that.”

“I said the same when we went out,” Chase commented. “But don’t let him fool you. He’s an excellent teacher and speaks in all his classes. He knows his voice is good.”

“No, I know it’s clear enough for you to understand. That’s something I work hard to make true, but I have never heard my voice, so I have no idea how I sound. And well.... Chase was the first person to ever say something like that.”

He worked regularly with various computer programs to improve and maintain his speech, knowing if he didn’t it could cost him his position at the college. He had always struggled to make sure he spoke well for Hearing people, considering his family’s opinion of his Deafness.

His dad knew sign language, but his mom refused to learn, insisting he learn to be “normal.” Adrian had always thought that was extremely unfair, especially as a child. Considering his hatred of being dependent on others for his communication, he was thankful he could read lips and speak as well as he did.

“Then you know the wrong people, ’cause he’s right.” Simon nodded to emphasize his point, confusing Adrian more. Why would he be so determined with his compliments?

Shrugging off his curiosity, Adrian tried to push past the topic. “What do you do?”

Simon’s eyes tightened at the edges slightly, his shoulders drooping a little more. “I’m a writer.”

“He’s a romance author, and a damn good one,” Jamie, or James as he knew the guy’s actual name was, said. Chase talked about his best friend often, though this was the first they’d met. “Don’t let him talk down about what he does.”

“James, hush. He’s not interested in what kind of writing I do.”

“Yes, I am. I love to read. Would I know any of your work?” Adrian didn’t have a large collection of romances, but he had read some. He couldn’t think of any authors named Simon, though.

“You’re an author?” Grayson asked, turning to join their conversation.

The nod seemed reluctant, but the smile on Simon’s face, while small, looked genuine. “Yeah, I write under the name Tyler Jacobs, a pseudonym, but I have a few books out. But, um, I thought we were trying to get to know Adrian and Grayson, not more about boring ol’ me.”

How do you choose which book to work on next?

At first that was easy, I only had one series, lol. Now, of course, it’s a bit harder to decide how to prioritize my writing and the stories. I’m still working on that and it seems that someone is always unhappy with my order of choice. :/ I’m not done with the Desires Entwined series, of course, but I’m not working on the next yet. Right now I’m writing the next in the Chain of Fate series (that’s the shifter series I have that starts with “Whiskers of a Chance”).

Then I will go to work on the second in the Club Fierce books (book one was “Caged Sanctuary”). No, I don’t do standalones well, lol. Although, after the untitled CF book, I will work on a standalone called “Say It” that will I can’t wait to write! I’m very excited about this story. After that, I’ll be back to the DE series, BUT, yes, the all caps was deliberate, I have another series and some other standalones planned, plus others in the series listed above that I intend to work on in the coming months and years.

The order and speed drive me nuts! Seriously!! I try to go in the order to best appease my muse and my readers while also listening to the wondrous Elizabeth North of Dreamspinner Press (whom I would be nothing without). But the biggest reason for the order is the drive to give you, my readers, the greatest diversity, and love possible. I want to share all the passion trapped in my heart and mind, and I hope yu continue to enjoy and I continue to write and share what’s within me.
