Darkness is a pleasure to be desired…Tannerian Wulfric is a leader—a strong alpha who bows to no-one, especially those who try to undermine his authority.
When an opportunity arises, he grabs it with both hands and lets nothing get in his way. Trouble is, his brother has been caught in the crossfire of glorious retribution, and Tanner is in need of assistance.
For many years, Alex Jonas has lived his life in peace. But when fate lands him in the hands of his ex-lover and alpha, he finds himself in the centre of a feud he never knew existed, and must immerse himself in ways he had never imagined. One chance encounter, one night, and everything comes crashing down around him. Alex must fight for his life while Tanner fights for one thing and one thing only—vengeance, which has never tasted sweeter.
Can Tanner avenge his family’s death without spilling more blood? Or will his inner demon tear apart everything he has worked for, and lose the man who owns his heart?
Warning: Contains strong use of language, violence, and graphic, erotic scenes which will require a cold shower to calm yourself down. Proceed with caution! HFN.

Excerpt
When Alex opened his eyes, Tanner was right there in front of him. His heavy breath blew against Alex’s freckled cheeks, and his black, fathomless eyes were completely fixed on his face. Alex blinked and looked up, his breath hitching as Tanner’s huge frame towered over him. The alpha had an easy advantage on him, making him feel even smaller under his hardened stare. He was so close that he could smell Tanner’s scent. A strong whiff of tobacco and sea-water aftershave. And whisky. Well, that explained his sudden close proximity, then.Whisky did this to Tanner—brought him close.
Alex tried to dismiss the scent crawling up his nose and down his trachea, but with Tanner so near to him, he could think of only him and how his world utterly immersed Alex with a simple gaze. An effortless tilt of his head, a brush of Alex’s cheek, and he became undone.
“Gimme some space already, jeez.”
Alex shoved the alpha away, but Tanner grabbed onto his wrists and pushed their bodies against the sink, dipping his head to take Alex’s mouth. He worked a knee between his thighs, and Alex felt the force of Tanner’s strong leg lifting him up off the ground.
Motherfucker!
Alex was trapped, but fuck, he wanted to be—needed to be. He had waited so long to melt into Tanner’s arms he couldn’t restrain himself. Tanner’s world literally flooded around him, his eyes, his breath, his lips, and all he could do was cling onto him and aim to keep his head above the water before he drowned.
Ten years... Ten years it’d been since he felt the alpha’s lips against his, felt his tongue slide down his throat, arms folding around him. He carried him as if he weighted nothing, and in spite of his leanness, Alex was no feather-weight. But, Tanner lifted Alex up and sat him on top of the sink effortlessly, all the while fucking him with his tongue and grabbing onto his ass.
“What’re you doing, old man?” Alex rasped against Tanner, pulling away from his lips. “Crazy mobsters like you don’t get jealous.”
Tanner merely smirked at him, his eyes raw with lust. He leant forward and nipped the bottom of Alex’s lip, catching it between his teeth.
“Just claiming back what is mine.”
He threw his suit jacket down onto the countertop behind and then began tugging at Alex’s red sweater and shirt. His dick hardened in his pants, aching to be released—to replace the memory—and guilt—of Tobias, and taste Tanner’s cock sliding into his mouth, down his throat, throbbing and slick with saliva…
“I can’t.” Alex pushed Tanner away with every fiber of his being and tried to compose himself; surprised to find he was short of breath. “My sister... She’ll be back soon. I’ve gotta…close up the shop. I’ve made plans tonight.”
He watched a shadow eclipse the alpha’s suddenly impassive features.
“Cancel them.”
Two words that immediately killed Alex’s hard-on.
“Don’t tell me what to do just because you think you can!” Alex spat. “I’m not a child anymore. I don’t belong to you either, asshole, and you can’t just keep tossing me away like some disposable doll!”
There. It’d escaped Alex at last—how he truly felt about Tanner’s abandonment. How much anger he had harboured for him randomly telling him to up and leave him that day. To ‘vacate the manor by dawn’, and then just jump back into his life as though nothing had happened between them. This motherfucker had pushed him to his limits!
“When I tell you to do something, boy, you do it.”
“No.”
“Are you defying me?”
Alex winced, but he held his ground. He’d had enough. Truly. Fuck this!

Author Q&A
What are your top 5 must read books?
Strain by Amelia C. Gormley (MM post-apocalyptic)
Haven City series by Zoe Perdita (MM paranormal,
Dragon and Flame is my favourite)
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (I’ve read this sooooo
many times and never get tired of it. Mr Rochester <3)
Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough (I cried so much reading
this (and watching the film) which NEVER happens to me. Loved, loved, loved
this creation!)
I Am Legend by Richard Matheson (way better than the
film, if you ask me. Go figures.)
What inspired you to write Broken
in Silence?
I was
inspired to write BiS because let’s be real, we all love a bad guy. Even if
he’s a super messed up, twisted, vengeful asshole kind of bad guy. Oh… just me?
;-) Yup. I know. I am so going to
hell!
When
I began writing my debut novel in 2015, Tanner was the antagonist of that story.
I remember writing the prologue and being utterly drawn to the mysterious, dark
alpha with a cryptic past. I knew from the beginning that I’d later write
Tanner’s story, though I hadn’t expected to turn it into a full-length spin-off.
A MM spin-off with tons of hot sex and sadistic characters.
Tanner
is a bad ass alpha who’ll do whatever it takes to avenge his family. I was
inspired by his sheer determination and ruthlessness to write this book/series.
To show everyone that monsters were once angels, too…. Just angels who felt the
dark side of life was entirely more alluring. Plus, all those pros of running
the biggest Underground in the world? Everything Tanner wants and more.
Except,
there’s one tiny problem.
Alex
Jonas.
Tanner’s
mate.
Tanner’s
only weakness.
One
thing I do love about dark books is authenticity. Since Tanner is essentially
top of the Black Market, I knew I had to map out his personality to convey the
ruthlessness of that world. I’ll admit that I’m a ‘jigsaw writer’. I write so
that my readers can piece everything together, and while it might not be for
everyone, I personally find it fascinating. I don’t spell things out from the
get-go. I like to lead my readers down a path they never knew existed it, only
to find they’ve entered into a kinky labyrinth with no way out. Only to find
they don’t want to find a way out!
Pull up a chair, my sweet kinkies, and I’ll tell you all about the dark side … just don’t expect to be leaving any time
soon.
5 things you didn’t know about Broken in Silence
(I’ve also thrown in an extra ;))
1.
The cities, Meadowsin and Zion, are actually
based on Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. I grew up in a small town just
outside of it, but in 2015 I moved there, and I was mesmerised by the New and
Old towns. I build the foundation of my world based on a city that sat on top
of a volcano. So cool! It was the volcano aspect that inspired Zion, which is a
city elevated by numerous kinds of platforms.
2.
Elijah Ravenhill and Zena ‘Whitefield’ are
actually siblings. :D They have a huge role to play in the series. *eyes you*
Soon, my pretties, soon...
3.
Tanner can’t swim – he just floats. In book two, this comes to light! It makes me
laugh because normally werecats are the ones afraid of water, but Tanner has a
deep aversion towards swimming. It’s because the water reminds him of the
purification pool, and that only ever resulted in pain.
4.
Here’s a quick explanation of each location in
my Demons and Wolves world!
Zion –
the new city, Land of the Dawn. This is where influential people (humans and
otherwise) reside. Basically, anyone who is anyone. Super elite technology with
an extreme sci-fi feel to it. The city is essentially a number of cities in one
(think of them as states), however, they are all elevated by “platforms”.
Zion (The) Syndicate – A
group of elite supernatural creatures who control the entire country. There is
six in total, each of them controlling different districts of the city, and
they are thought to be the most powerful successors in the world. General Matthews and Lady Redmayne are two of
whom make up the council, and they appear in books 2 and 3 of Demons and
Wolves.
Halo Court Office – The
government which is a sub-division of the syndicate. It is Halo who control the
justice system and ensure that the Code breakers in Zion/Meadowsin are
eliminated, humans are kept safe, and the country thrives through probable
sustainability. Noah Hunter is the CEO of this government, and thus the leader
of Geta Novas – his pack who are entrusted to keep the country safe from official
usurpers. Haloists as credited to be the most skilled shifters in the country,
all of them famous for wearing impeccable suits and being covered in tattoos.
Not your usual Civil Servants, but I kind of like that.
Deadlands –
Vampire territory, uh-oh! This area dominates the entire border between Zion
and Meadowsin City, and it’s controlled
by an Elder Vampire known as Leonidas; one of the oldest vampires to date.
Meadwosin –
the old town, aka where the “Sinners” belong – those who were deemed unworthy
to live in Zion. It doesn’t suffer from extreme poverty all over, but it is a
lot less cared for than in Zion.
The Meadowsin Pits –
this is where the surplus population of each city live (I use live very
loosely!). When Halo introduced the Code, shifters and humans were divided;
those who could produce profit (Zion), and those who couldn’t (Meadowsin). The
Pits is situated in the furthermost south of Meadowsin and is like a gigantic,
cesspit of poverty in which has become a squalor for all the hopeless
leftovers. The Pits will be explored more in both Demons and Wolves and the
Twin City series. Book #3 of the Twin City will focus on the bear fights that
are a commonality at the Pits.
Underground –
this is where the wolves who were, for example, banished from Zion live. A lot
of the survivors from the revolt took up residence in the Underground after
General Matthews exiled them from ever showing their face in Zion again. Of
course, this doesn’t stop the Underground from infiltrating Zion’s precious
platforms. Certainly not Tanner.
Belowsurface – “I
am simply one HELL of a butler.” Belowsurface is hell, in human terms. This is
where all your biggest, foulest monsters lurk, predominantly run by the demons.
Humans cannot enter and it is very rare for shifters to, either.
As a total side note, I have
never really explained the foundation of the world in BiS. Zion and Meadowsin
are essentially the size of North America.
5. First off, what do demons feed on? Your
eyes. Why? Because your eyes are the window to your soul, and that’s what
demons live on.
Here’s
their ranks, General Demons are my favourite b/c they tend to be super snarky:
Royale Demon (or
just a Royal) are the most powerful of demons. They’re the Royal Family of hell
and the Head Royal of that family just so happens to be Satan. Yay, fun times!
High Demons –
the second most powerful of demons. These demons do not need to be summoned to
enter Aboveground. They can come and go as they please and are generally
advisers to the Royals.
General Demon –
these guys are like the lieutenants of Belowsurface. They are super powerful,
but the only exception is that they need to be summoned in order to leave
Belowsurface. They cannot enter Aboveground (mortal realm) unless they have
been given a contract (summoned). A contract is something that binds them to
their Summoner until their wish is fulfilled. For example, Jade is a General
Demon who was summoned by Noah to overthrow an Under Demon and banish him back
into hell. It’s sort of like a kick-ass Genie. Also, only demons can banish
each other; shifter and human attempts to do so are futile.
Under Demon –
the less than powerful demons. They’ve got impeccable skills, speed, flawless
wings and cunning minds, but if they push the wrong buttons, a General can
easily throw them back into hell. A lot of Under Demons are found Aboveground,
posing as beautiful humans in order to feed off them.
6. Alex lost his kitty, Jingles, four years
prior to book one. He still has her collar wrapped around his bedroom lamp.
Poor kitty! I really hope he finds her soon. She used to sit on the Moon Café
countertop while Alex made coffees.
About the Author
Katze Snow never learned when to shut up. Food and coffee are what encourage Katze to function in a semi-normal, sort of socially acceptable way. Doses of sarcasm and sass are what she lives for, and her wolf, Kiba, who is Katze's little furbaby. She's been writing since she was a child, but finally published her debut novel, Alpha's Bane, in Autumn 2016.
While Katze also writes MF, MM is where her heart truly lies. Her writing is dark, gritty, and takes satire to a whole new level. Come and join her! But be warned: Katze likes her men dark, twisted and all kinds of fucked up, and she hopes you do too.
