Painted On My Heart is a new stand alone contemporary which has characters from previous books by the author.
Fair warning.. this book packed a serious emotional punch in quite a few different ways. So now that you've been warned... I highly recommend this story. Painted On My Heart also happens to be one of those stories you're really going to love, or you're not going to like it because of the disparity in the characters.
Kellus is a very talented artist with an ex that continues to damage his life. Arik is very successful businessman who likes to love them and leave them, usually without remembering their names. His brother happens to gift him with a piece of Kellus's artwork and he's totally besotted. Then.. he meets Kellus and his world is tossed into chaos, a good chaos though.
There's a lot of things in the plot that should be learned as you're reading through the story so I won't go into detail. It's too important to give bits and pieces and for the reader to guess where the story is going instead of reading it as it unfolds. Needless to say I feel in love with Kellus immediately, even when I felt like shaking him to make him see both his ex, John, and focus on Arik. On the other hand there were times I wanted to throttle Arik for trying to take things over without making Kellus a part of their journey. I get why he did many of those things, but to some, they might seem way too controlling and off-putting.
The relationship that develops between Kellus and Arik is very well done as they face some real and deep issues. Instead of skirting around them, they face their issues head on and hand in hand. This is one of the many points that drew me to this book, because the authors could have so easily glossed over the important parts and just wrote a typical romance. They didn't and faced everything with the attention to detail without being boring or losing the reader.
I wish I could devote the review to the plot of the story but again that would spoil it for you readers and I won't do that. But I can't recommend this story enough, it was just that good of a read for me. So go out and grab a copy and meet Kellus and Arik and see some familiar faces from other books by the author.

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.
