BLURB:

Gray, Jack, and Mason are back. Their threeway relationship keeps growing stronger, and Gray 's feelings for his partners run deeper than he ever thought possible. While he’s learned to be romantic at home, at work, he’s still a big tough cop that nobody wants to cross. When the murders of several young prostitutes falls to him to solve, and he has no suspects and no motive, his confidence takes a hit. Every dead end, every day that goes by, adds to the urgency he feels to find the murderer.

Gray desperately needs a break, with the case and for himself. He excels at taking care of both his men, in bed and out, but when it comes to accepting comfort in return, he shuts down, even with everything at work going to hell. Jack and Mason want him to take a vacation when the case ends, but Gray knows he sucks at down time unless it’s spent in bed. With his case weighing on him and his partners trying their best to help, Gray is going to have to figure out how a high-handed man like himself can let go.

EXCERPT

Mason cupped Gray’s face and turned him for a kiss. As Mason’s tongue made a lazy exploration of his mouth, Jack slid from the couch and knelt before him. Gray opened his legs, encouraging Jack to settle between them. If they’d asked him, Gray would’ve said he was too tired for anything but cuddling and watching a movie. Now his cock was trying to convince him he was very wrong.

Gray tightened his grip on Mason and deepened the kiss, letting Mason know he’d had enough of slow. Jack unfastened Gray’s pants and nuzzled his cock. Mason did some unzipping of his own and repositioned himself, slinging a leg over Gray and offering his cock for Gray to suck. No way in hell was Gray going to refuse him. Jack had Gray’s dick out now and was lapping the head as Gray gripped Mason’s hip in one hand and used the other to guide Mason’s cock into his mouth. Jesus, he tasted good. Gray loved the way the thick flesh filled his mouth, the way Mason wasn’t shy like he would’ve been at one time.

Gray was on sensation overload as Jack sucked him hard and fast while working a hand between Gray’s legs to tease his ass. As Jack’s finger brushed over Gray’s hole, Gray moaned around Mason’s cock and Mason’s gasp told him just how much he enjoyed the vibration.

“So fucking good,” Mason murmured.

Gray grabbed Mason’s ass and pulled him in, letting him know he was ready for Mason to get rough.

Jack pushed a finger into Gray’s ass, and that plus Mason’s dick driving down his throat was enough to send Gray over the edge. He reached for Jack, sliding a hand into his hair and thrusting deeper into his mouth. Seconds later he was coming, and Jack took it all, swallowing rapidly like he wanted nothing more than Gray’s cum. Mason pulled back, letting Gray enjoy the orgasm.

“Get each other off,” Gray ordered when he could speak. “I want to watch.”

Mason climbed off the couch and pulled Jack to his feet. He licked his palm and then wrapped a hand around both their cocks. Jack thrust into his hand, and Mason increased his speed as Jack pulled him in for a kiss.

Gray couldn’t take his eyes off them. Soon Jack had covered Mason’s hand with his own. Gray sensed that they were seconds from coming.

4 out of 5 stars

Going Deep is the fourth book in Silvia Violet's Fitting In series. This is a series that is very interconnected so it is best read in order.

Gray, Jack, and Mason are back in this installment of the series. Gray is now a detective working a seriously tough case that is kicking his butt. He feels like he's not making a dent in the case and he's putting a ton of pressure on himself to resolve it. Gray's biggest problem, though, is that he doesn't share the burden of what he's internalizing with his partners. He's the protector, the dominant, so to him it's his job to take care of both Jack and Mason.

Now that's not to say that they're triad's relationship isn't solid. It's very strong, and solid. It's just that Gray, himself is very hard on himself and doesn't like to lean on anyone. Jack, Mason, and Gray together are by turns sexy as hell, completely loving, and adorably playful. They know what works for their relationship, and love when Gray turns on the dominant side of himself.

Going Under is a little slower paced and delves quite a bit into Gray's head and emotions for this story. It's still a very good story, with Jack, Mason, and Gray adapting their relationship and working through issues. This book is more about their triad being able to handle the bumps in the road that long term relationships go through. Going Under had pretty much everything you could ask for from a good menage/poly romance story. Of course the sex scenes were enough to scorch the pages, both when Gray gets all dominant, and also when Jack and Mason turn it on Gray.

Anyone that has read the rest of the series, this is a must read. For those that haven't read the series, you really should as this is Silvia Violet at her best.

Gideon squeezed his dick through his jeans and groaned. How the hell was he going to handle seeing Drago the next day? Gideon had been dying just thinking about him.

When he opened his eyes, he spotted a familiar face moving through the crowd. Sergeant Talon, in skintight jeans, a black tank top, and sporting a military haircut was walking straight for him. He was hotter than Gideon had ever seen him before. Gideon rose to his feet as he approached.

“Hey, Major,” Talon said, taking Gideon’s hand and pulling him into a hug. Talon smacked Gideon’s ass and stepped back to check him out. “You’re so fucking hot!”

Gideon’s face warmed. Talon was out of line, but it was what he’d grown to expect from him.

“Uh, okay…” Gideon said, stepping to the side in an attempt to put more distance between them, but Talon put his hand on the wall, preventing his retreat. Gideon furrowed his brow, wondering what kind of game he was playing. During their captivity, Talon had always taken liberties. When Stella said the first man to make Gideon come would get to fuck him, Talon had gone down on him like he’d meant it.

“You know, I heard you were returning to Fort Hood, and I was hoping I’d find you here,” Talon said, pushing Gideon’s back to the wall. Gideon opened his mouth to protest, but before he could say a word, Talon slid a hand down the front of Gideon’s jeans and grasped his erection.

“What the…?” Gideon’s protest was cut short when Talon’s hot lips pressed into his own. Gideon groaned into Talon’s mouth, but inside he was screaming. This was wrong! Talon was his soldier—he couldn’t let him do this. He tried to pull back, but Talon held him in place, jerking him harder and faster while deepening his kiss. Gideon felt his climax coming, and before he could collect his thoughts, his body flushed with heat and he came in Talon’s hand.

Gideon broke their embrace, struggling for breath while his body quaked. What the fuck was he doing? Everything had happened so quickly, yet he had no desire to push Talon away. He needed this. Talon’s rough hands on him, forcing him to his will.

      1.  Please start out by telling us about your book.

Slash OP is the second book in my Toy Soldier Series and the sequel to Drago Star. The story revolves around Gideon’s first mission as a star commander, which is a covert operation in dragon-occupied territory. Gideon has spent the last three months preparing for the mission by learning High Dragon. He feels like he’s ready, but what he doesn’t know is that he’s embarking on a mission that has a zero percent survival rate.

      2. Was there any part of your book that was based on real life? If so what is it?

I always like to sneak some element of real life into my books. In Slash Op, there is a helicopter ride where they fly over dragon-occupied territory. The post-apocalyptic landscape below is based on images of war-torn Bagdad. The dragon militia is loosely based on the Afghan Army, and the interior layout of the safe house is the same as the house I grew up in.

      3.  Will there be a sequel? If so, what can you tell us about it?

The next book in this series is called Cyber Agent and takes place in the cyber district. This book will have a cyber punk theme.

      4. What is your favorite genre to write?

M/M dark erotica is definitely my favorite genre. Although I love fantasy, I also enjoy writing futuristic fantasy.  I think whether the plot is in the past or the future, my preferred genre is low fantasy.

      5. What are your current and future projects?

I am currently working on a contemporary erotica book. This will be the first time I write something that isn’t dark erotica. For the future, I plan on writing Wrath of Akad, book three in my S-God’s series, and Cyber Agent, book three in my Toy Soldiers Series.

EXCERPT

Landon pulled softly on his arm again, and Rod got the hint. He kneeled between Landon’s legs, with his knees on the floor. “You’re determined,” Landon told him.
Yes, yes he was. At least when it came to this. “Is that a bad thing?”
Landon smiled. “Hell no. You’ve had my dick hard since the first time I saw you. Easy Ride comes in the mail too, ya know?”
“Aww, so you came to see me?”
“Shut up so I can kiss you.” The look in Landon’s eyes turned dark, hungry, urgent, and he pulled Rod closer, covering Rod’s mouth with his own. His tongue went straight for Rod’s lips, demanding entrance, and Rod gave it easily. He tasted like a mixture of coffee and mint, like maybe he’d had a drink right after brushing his teeth.
Rod slid his hands up Landon’s thighs until he got to the bulge at the apex of them and rubbed his hand over it, feeling the large bump beneath his jeans.
Landon growled into his mouth, making it vibrate through him.
He leaned back, grabbed the bottom of Rod’s shirt and pulled it over his head. “I’m so damned hungry for you. This won’t be slow. It’ll be fast and hard.”
“Were you under the impression that I wanted it slow?”
Grinning, Landon reached around and swatted Rod’s ass. “Let’s go to the room.”
“Why move when we can do it right here?” He didn’t want to give Landon the chance to change his mind. Rod reached under the couch and grabbed a bottle of lube, before pulling a condom from his wallet and tossing both to the couch.
“You keep lube under your couch?”
“I live alone. I can jack off wherever I want. Are we going to talk or do this?” But really, he liked talking to Landon, and if what Landon said was true, he liked talking to Rod as well.
“Fuck now, words later.”
Hell yes. Definitely what he wanted to hear. Rod stood up to take off his jeans. As he worked the button, Landon traced a path across his stomach with his tongue. He nipped at the skin next to Rod’s belly button, just enough to sting before he sucked the skin into his mouth again.
“Oh fuck.” Rod’s bones melted; his knees went weak.
“Get out of those pants before I rip them off of you. Want your ass.”
Rod looked down at him and nodded, letting Landon know he was good to go. Finally, his goddamned fingers started to work and he got his pants unbuttoned and unzipped. Blood rushed through his ears. His cock ached as he pulled down his jeans.
Landon leaned in. “Jesus, you’re leaking like crazy. Look at that fucking wet spot. I want your taste on my tongue again.” And then he nuzzled his face between Rod’s legs, his mouth against the growing spot of pre-come in Rod’s underwear.
“Damn, I’m going to fucking kill you if you make me come too soon.” Even as he spoke, Rod had his hand in Landon’s hair, pushing his face closer to his aching cock.
Landon smacked his ass again, before pulling back. “Get them off.”
There was a slight tingle in Rod’s cheek from the smacks. “You’re naughty, aren’t you?” The thought just made his balls even more heavy and tight.
“For some reason, I doubt I have anything on your level of naughtiness.”
Rod shrugged. “It gives you something to strive for. You can practice on me if you want.”
“I’ll consider it, now get your ass out of your underwear and on my dick.”

Rod’s cock pulsed behind the tightening fabric. “Don’t have to tell me twice.”

Shifting Gears is the second book in Riley Hart's Crossroads series. It could be read as a standalone but for the full effect I'd suggest reading them in order.

Let me say that I have a bit of an addiction to characters that are flawed and more realistic than characters that are all hearts and flowers. Don't get me wrong the later has it's place, but for me I just prefer characters that don't have everything so easy. Love and relationships of any kind are messy, angsty, and can be at turns fantastic and also the pit of despair. Shifting Gears has two very realistic characters with flaws and issues that make both of them stubborn about love and needing someone in their lives.

Rod presents himself as fun, light-hearted, with no cares in the world. Landon has moved back home feeling guilty for leaving his sister to be the only one there for his mom. While he gets along with his family, it's hard for him to be back home. Then Landon meets Rod one night while he's shopping for lube in Rod's sex toy store. I'd say that the rest is history after that but in this case it's not because both characters have issues. Both men have the same cause to their issues, emotional damage from their fathers that hasn't ever healed.

Rod and Landon start a friendship over a span of time but their seriously attracted to the other. Landon is being stubborn and sticking to his no sex with friends rule and Rod uses joking around and redirecting conversations to hide his issues. Over time both let things overwhelm them and it drives a wedge between them that they must fix or they'll lose each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rod's humorous banter and the friendship between he and Landon. I loved seeing Bryce and Nick again, too. What kept me sucked into the story though was watching Landon and Rod grow closer and attempt to push their issues aside. And okay..seriously the sex between them was off the charts, smoking HOT! I did feel that they really needed lessons in communication on more than one instance and that's where the story felt a touch rough for me.

The story itself was well paced, with a solid storyline, and good, strong characters. Was the storyline wildly original, no. However, there is enough well written dialogue, backstory, and characterization that the story just works for these two characters. And that's where the author excels at what she does, her characters are flawed and their ultimately human. They make mistakes, they apologize, and then they make more mistakes and apologize again. It shows growth in both the characters and their relationship, so the story never stagnates and gets old or boring.

I'll be honest and that this author is an autobuy for me because her characters never let me down. I'd definitely recommend Shifting Gears for fans of the author, but also those that read Felice Stevens, Kade Boehme, and Christina Lee.

Excerpt:

Marc smiled as he made clinking sounds in the galley of his private jet. He already had the black slacks on, so it was the work of a moment to take off his polo shirt and slip into the white epauletted button-down short-sleeve shirt of a steward. The wings were already attached to the lapels, and he’d even had a name tag made.
“Here you go, sir,” he said as he handed Jesse his drink on a tray. Jesse was already involved in something on his phone, and he absentmindedly reached for it.
Then he paused, sensing that something had changed. He looked up to see Marc dressed as an airline steward, his eyes dancing with heat.
Marc didn’t smile as he said, “Is there anything else I can get you, sir?”
Jesse swallowed. “Maybe a warm blanket.”
Marc took the drink from his hand. He pressed a button on the side of Jesse’s chair.
“The seat fully reclines into a bed, sir. Let me make you comfortable.”
As the seat back flattened and the base lifted Jesse’s feet up, Marc pushed another button, and the chair’s arms lowered out of the way, which gave him room to straddle Jesse’s hips.
He put his hands on Jesse’s chest, and Jesse reached up to finger his collar. “How did you earn those wings, steward?”
Marc idly stroked Jesse’s hand where it lingered on the wings. “Oh, those, sir? For achieving membership in the Mile High Club. Are you a member?” Marc began to grind his ass against Jesse’s crotch, feeling the transformation below his slacks.
“You know, I am not. I’ve never been invited to join.”
Marc leaned in to whisper in his ear. “Let me be the first to welcome you, then.”

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Brad Vance, author of “Strength in Numbers,” the second book in the “Game Players” series, after “Would I Lie to You?” Hi Brad, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Thank you for having me!

1)    Favorite thing about building your own world?

I love doing the research, even when I’m writing a “fantasy” world like I did with Werewolves of Brooklyn. I dug into the Civil War, the slums of old New York, the gentrification issues today. All romance is fantasy, but the more genuine the world you put your characters into, the more believable the romance, for me. I did lots of research on Bitcoin and cryptography for Strength in Numbers, and the challenge there was deciding how much of that research to leave in the book, and how much to take out. You don’t want to bore or confuse the reader with too much, but you can’t simplify it so much that you get it wrong.

2)    What inspired you to write your first book?

The absolute certainty that the first thing I wrote would make me rich, to be painfully honest. My first book was terrible. I was just 20 years old, and I was a clerk at a Federal bureaucracy dealing with Federal lands in the US West. I wrote a love story about a cowboy who falls in love with…a clerk at a federal bureaucracy! It’s long lost now, but it was a learning experience. My first attempt at putting my fantasies on paper, I see now.

3)    Do you have a specific writing style?

Definitely. I like things clean and clear. I hate florid language, the “cult of the sentence,” purple prose, anything that feels like there’s more garnish on the plate than food. I live by George Orwell’s maxim on writing: “Good prose is like a window pane.” No complex metaphors or analogies there – good prose is like a sheet of clear glass, it lets you see what’s out there, no tint to it, no elaborate frame or “window treatments.”

4)    Who are some of the authors that influenced you to write?

I was always a voracious reader as a little kid. But one book that stands out above all is The Annotated Alice, a big hardback with both Alice in Wonderland novels, with all the Tenniel illustrations and copious scholarly notes in the margins. I could hardly understand half the notes or allusions, but Alice taught me that the world was how you saw it, even if nobody else saw it that way.

5)    What are some jobs you’ve held? Have any of them impacted your writing? How?

I’ve had lots of jobs in the technology sector – software tester, tech writer, instructional designer. There’s so much blah blah and bullshit in tech writing. People get paid by the hour or the page, and so you get manuals that say “In order to accomplish the very important task for which this program is developed, it is critical to follow the steps as seen below in order (See Figure 1, Accomplishing Steps In Order).” Instead of just saying, “To do this: Step One…” I learned to be a ruthless editor when this kind of thing got handed off to me! I made a lot of enemies that way too, by calling bullshit, which is why I’m glad to be out of Cubicle City. But, it definitely improved my own writing, and helped me sharpen my editing skills.
