his eyebrows, Ford said, “I think nearly choking to death in the middle of a
blow job and then coughing, crying, and sniffling in front of the guy I’m
trying to impress qualifies as embarrassing.”
Trevor’s
lips twitched. “When you say it that way, I guess you’re right.” He laughed.
“It is pretty embarrassing. Funny too.”
“Hey.” Ford lightly smacked Trevor’s
knee. “I thought you were trying to console me.”
“I’m laughing with you and consoling
you at the same time. Besides, this wasn’t your fault.”
Ford
darted his gaze from left to right and then looked up at Trevor again. “I’m the
only one down here. Whose fault is it?”
“Mine, of course.” One side of Trevor’s
lips curled up and his eyes twinkled mischievously.
“How do you figure this was your
fault?” he asked, knowing he was stepping into a setup of some sort.
“Well, I’m the one with the monster
cock.”

I'll admit I'm a Cardeno C. book addict and Strange Bedfellows was a perfect reason to be addicted to her books.
The two main characters, Trevor and Ford are polar opposites in so many ways. Ford is the up and coming Republican Congressman from Missouri. Trevor is the son of the current President of the United States who happens to be a Democrat. Trevor is a self-made billionaire where Ford is firmly in the middle class category. Ford is all about family, God, and his duty to both. Trevor's got a relatively dysfunctional family, and follows what works best for him. Ford is firmly in the closet and Trevor has been out and proud since he was 18. So if you look at all of that you'd think there is no way in hell those two would ever be interested in the other, let alone hook up. OH you'd be sooooooo very wrong.
From the moment Ford and Trevor meet in the bar and hook up with each other they steam up the pages. And I do mean STEAM up the pages because the sex scenes between these two would set fire to anyone else in the room with them. Eventually though things go from pure sex to liking each other and then into love. Even with all their differences they realize at the core of it all, they have many of the same values and desires in life, and of course with a CC book, love does overcome many issues.
Strange Bedfellows is just a sweet book, with two very likable characters, and a story that shows opposites can make it work. That's what I enjoy about CC's books, they always make me feel good, even when there are issues to overcome. The characters are always able to find a way to make it work to end up with a truly happy ending.
Strange Bedfellows totally delivered on that front and I adored Ford and all his adorable bow ties. I really happened to adore that Ford was from my hometown and lived in my city. I also have to give lots of love to the ending where both families are conspiring to get Ford to take over his dad's Senate seat. The one-up-manship from the two dads is funny as hell.
Of course I live for the next Cardeno C book, no matter what genre it is because I know I'll have something enjoyable to read from her.
