Q & A with Brandy L Rivers
Q - Who
designed the covers?
Brandy L Rivers - From the Ashes was created by Sarah M Cradit
Face the Music was created by Brandy L Rivers
Both Sarah and I do our own covers for our own books
Q - Do
you read your reviews? Do you respond to them, good or bad? Do you have any
advice on how to deal with the bad?
BLR - I do read my reviews. I don’t respond to them on the
retail sites or Goodreads, though if I see a blogger posting a good review, I
will thank them. If they post a bad I tend to let it roll off. You can’t please
everyone and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Q - Is
there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
BLR - I don’t tend to go into it writing with the
intention sending a message, though each book seems to have its own.
Q - Can
you share what your current are projects?
BLR - I’m working on Light in Darkness now. It’s book 6 in
Others of Edenton. I have a novella to write for a paranormal anthology in
April, and a contemporary one to write for May.
Q - What
books have most influenced your life most?
BLR - The Stand by Stephen King. Anne Rice’s vampires and
witches. F Paul Wilson and his Repairman Jack books and related books. I love
the worlds they built, and how they interwove their characters.
Q - Do
you ever experience writer's block?
BLR - Not for long. I can generally get myself out of it.
Are
there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
BLR - M Stratton. I got to read Bender a little early. I
really enjoyed it.
Q - While
you were writing, did you ever feel as if you were one of the characters?
BLR - No, but I have all the characters very vividly in my
head. I don’t feel like any particular one.
Q - What
are your expectations for the book?
BLR - Not sure I have any. I write because I can’t not
write. I publish because I like to share my stories. I don’t expect it to be a
huge hit. I just hope I touch a few people along the way.
Q - Do
you write an outline before every book you write?BLR - That would be a great
big no. If I outline, I wind up veering so far off it’s not funny. I really
can’t follow one.
