“Well written, at times heartbreaking, often touching, very sexy, and with an unforgettable storyline and characters, Debt is without a doubt one of my favourites among K.C. Well’s amazing books.” - Reader review

5 out of 5 stars
Debt is the newest release from author K.C. Wells and is, for now, a standalone novel. What a fantastic book it was, too.
Debt is the story of two very different men who've both had to deal with changes in their lives. Mitch is a teacher who recently went through a nasty break up with his boyfriend of 2 years. When his ex left Mitch, he was an ass and kicked him in his self-esteem enough that he's questioning himself. Since the breakup he's kept himself away from his family, telling himself it's so he can get over everything. Nikko is a college student who drops everything to come to New York City when he gets a call that his brother Ichiro is in the hospital. His life becomes someone elses when he takes over the debt his brother owes and ends up in a exclusive brothel hidden away on the top floors of a restuarant/club. Thinking he'll just be there for six or seven months he feels that he can deal with whatever happens.
The initial meeting between Mitch and Nikko has that touch that feels like fate set it up to make it easier for Nikko at first. After all they meet the very first night Nikko is 'working' at the club and his first experience there is not what he'd expected. Now that doesn't necessarily set the tone for his full experience at the club unfortunately. His interludes with Mitch though are alternately hot or tender and sweet because ultimately that's what both men are at heart. Neither expected to find or even meet the other person and their discovery and exploration of each other is one of the best parts of the story.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of May-December romances this one didn't really make me feel that there was a giant age gap with the characters. I feel a lot of that is how Nikko was raised, he wasn't the typical young 20-something just out of college. His current circumstances were something that most wouldn't have done what he agreed to do for his brother. Taking on that debt shows how strong and adult this young man had already become.
I thoroughly enjoyed Debt. The main and secondary characters were well crafted, the storyline was well paced and had enough original elements to make it stand out at least for this reader. I do hope to see a story for Nikko's brother in the future along with any other books the author shares with us.
I definitely recommend this one for fans of the author, fans of May-December romances, and those that love a truly good love story.
Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. WELLS always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter….
K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.
And as for those men in love that she writes about? The list of stories just waiting to be written is getting longer… and longer….
